I Feel Like Sarah

Posted by Susan B at 9:13 AM
In the Bible, Sarah took matters into her own hands instead of trusting God's word and promise. I feel like have done the same thing. I excepted a job that had everything I was looking for and thought it was God's answer to prayer. I now think that I made a terrible mistake. The man I work for says he is a Christian and I do not doubt that he is based on the fact that only God knows ones true commitment. The Bible also states that " out of the heart, the mouth speaks." That being said, I am unsure that I am where God wants me to be. The environment that I am now working in, is less than to be desired. The man I work for curses more than a Marine and tells tasteless jokes. I say nothing because he is my boss and because I need this job. Although I have been told to express when I have been offended, I also fear the backlash. He has made it clear that if he doesn't like someone, he will make it uneasy for them to want to stay or just fire them.
I feel like Sarah, because I have been praying for a job that pays well and that is part time. I have exactly that, but at what cost? God does not answer prayer to make you miserable. I am a very tolerant person and hard offend, so I know that I am not being sensitive to what is going on around me and toward me. Sarah took matters into her own hands and caused herself unnecessary stress and heartache. I believe I have done the same. Instead of praying and seeking God for answers, I excepted this position in the assumption that it was sent from God. I search for answers to questions such as, what lesson am I supposed to be learning? There is a reason for all that we go through in life, what are the reasons I am at this job and was it really sent in my direction to teach me something? I am still unsure of a lot of things, except for the fact that I am uncomfortable in my surroundings at work and I need to find a new job.

I replied to you on Christian Chirp about this but sometimes it doesn't work. I'll be praying for you in this situation and it could be that God has you there to be a witness and testimony to your boss. I always say, be a witness and speak if you have to! Psalm 37 helped me in situations like this when I worked in an industrial environment and worked under people such as this.

It's difficult to treat bosses like Jesus when they don't act like him, but that's what Colossians 3:22 teaches us but also verses 23-25 are very encouraging. Ephesians 6:9 gives a warning to 'masters' or bosses. Hope this helps!

Hi! Just noticed your blog in Christianchirp. I admire your design and have rss'd your feed.

As for your situation...well I agree with James S. Hodges; however, I will add my opinion. I, too, am a Christian but I don't just hear the word, I do the word as much as possible.

Your Marine, the Boss, he was trained to be an intimidator and enforcer. He was trained not to be a sissy. He was trained to fight and he probably doesn't know any better. He has to see "Jesus in action!"

I say this because I was an Investigator for the Texas Attorney General's Office. We were expected to take control and be in control of any situation; I was nauseated because I liked people and didn't want to be the what I sometimes felt as a "bully". The Lord took me under control almost immediately and taught me that if I did it His way, then I would succeed in spite of the circumstances. I submitted and yes, I was successful. In fact, employees would come to my office, sit down and then completely relax. Some even told me they didn't understand, but they "felt" the difference. It was the Peace of God. I was in the top 3 employees in the entire state as far as high collections, enforcement for $$$.

God will give you your peace. Ask him. Sometimes, and maybe you didn't misunderstand but rather God may want to use you to show the Marine Boss that there is something better and he doesn't know yet what it is or even how to obtain it.

Let God lead you. I lasted, and I receive my full monthly annuity.

God opened another door for me (Internet Marketing)...learning doesn't stop.
